Autumn Thoughts

So this is my first post in this lovely season of Autumn, my favorite of all. The air is crisp and the metamorphosis of nature is so apparent and beautiful. I envy natures way of informing the world that its changing; its stages of growth and cycling are so graceful. In Autumn, we witness the world transitioning; dying, ripening, being reborn right before our eyes And like the penultimate stanza in a poem, or 2nd line 7th syllable of haiku, we stop to marvel at the beauty autumn brings before moving on. How could I not fall in to suit and change, transition into a better, more aged me?

"And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" -Anais Nin ~~~~What a powerful quote, I know my day is coming soon.

Mule of the World

I had a dream last night, I can't remember it all, but there were a bunch of men that I knew and I remember feeling discriminated against because I was a woman. After confronting them, one of the guys say "You know the woman is the mule of the world". This being a quote from Zora Neal Hurston's Their Eyes were watching God had me pondering the plight of women worldwide. It makes you wanna holler I am human, and I am worth so much more than this. Expect a future blog entry on this issue.

Obama is my pacifier...

but he should have left me crying and angry. They got me to shut up temporarily, but I'm about to spit that shit out and yell even louder. Another future entry!!!

Happy Autumn everyone!!!!

Live blogging Howard Dean (after thought)

I heard the same ole same ole. He simply agreed with everything Obama and the democrats have been saying. I'm pretty liberal but i was hoping for a little divversity in opinion. There were no tebaggers outside though, and it was a pretty positive townhall and nnamdi remarked. Its all politics as usual with his answers, but at least the Dems are trying to do something. Therepublicans arent doing a damn thing except bickering and talking shit. He autographing books now, but i'm broke so I can't buy one. Its called Howard Dean's Prescription for real Healthcare Reform
you can purchase it on amazon!!!!

So I'm going to live blog the open mic tonight at nine. Hopefully I'll do a better job, stay tuned.

Live blogging Howard Dean on Healthcare at Busboys

So I'm going to attempt to blog Howard Deans discussion on HealthCare and the Open mic tonight LIVE at Busboys and poets. Dean will be discussing healthcare, which is a crucial issue that gets bigger and more dramatic as time goes by.

I remember how impressed I was of Dean back in 2004, the first time I was eligible to vote. I wanted him so desperately to win at least the democratic primaries. He was passionate, sensitive and what a fighter!!! Instead he was knocked out of the race by Kerry. And of course you know the rest of the story, pure hell under Bush's second term. I wonder how different the U.S. would be under Deans rule. I guess anyone would have done it better than Bush!

Anywayz, this event starts at 6, and is moderated by Kojo Nnamdi from our favorite DC Station WAMU 88.5. This should be a treat. I will try to get some photos, but I am seated behind him.
